Seeds of grace

On a full moon cold December night in bharata, I received an invitation from a woman I had met back at the apple farm to join her apprenticeship program in Sonoma County, California.

This program was meant to prepare young adults to become farmers, or to connect them with artisans to be part of this year long mentorship program and create earth based livelihood. I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank Christina Sbarra, who endured this year with me and taught me invaluable lessons as I learned to adult and grow in the world. If you are reading this — thank you, Christina, the seeds have been planted.

I also want to thank Hal and Lenka for being such gentle, beautiful souls to us during this significant moment of transition for Patric and I and also have made Farm Studio possible.

During this program — I encountered the most incredible human beings in the area, all of whom brought me so much wisdom and taught me deeply: Juaquin and Michael Presley. Each of them introduced me to love in their own way.

The greatest seed they planted in me, beyond the fact that I became an decent gardener was learning to attune myself to the biodynamic rhythms of the cosmic forces that rule our Earth.

And it was through them that I was introduced to Martín Prechtel. He has become the most influential person in my life, and I am convinced that I learned English for the sole purpose of receiving his teachings so deeply.

I also want to give a big thank you to Star Gazer Li, who inspires me so profoundly and anchors me on this spinning Earth also to my friend Reet Rannik whose friendship is so valuble to me.

Not too long ago, I harvested an ear of pink corn, and my teacher Michael, honored me as the Corn Queen. Each one of them has filled my vessel for many years to come. He also gifted me a great chunk of beeswax and, in his way, told me that I reminded him of a queen bee — a gravitational force of nature.

also my mentor and close friend, Alice Encinas Duvernell, for whom I have fallen into deep awe and admiration. This radiant soul has taught me so much about the art of medicinal beauty, and there has been so much joy and laughter.

also I want to thank Clara and AJ, the connection to them has opened my heart to generosity and motherhood and working for them has allowed me to make a living while I journey and do more of what I love.

I’ve discovered many ways to embody myself more fully: to lead harmonious relationships, to cultivate diplomatic understanding, or simply to practice the art of saying no — and being firm in that knowing.

It’s been almost a year since my grandmother Musa passed away, and another year since I left my home at the apple farm — and destiny is so clear to me now, many questions have been answered in the process.

Now I am immersing this winter into Ayurveda, through a Clinical Foundations Course with DeAnna Batdorff in Occidental, California. Almost a year ago, I decided I wanted to pursue this path of living/ being as an ayurvedic practioner.

They say be careful for what you wish for because you just might get it

with love,

Maria
